Distinguish vegetation from structural material
Watertown's solid-waste program identifies separate composting, wood chipping and recycling activities. That is a useful reminder to keep grass, branches, lumber and demolition debris distinct in the request. Ask the rental provider about treated wood, appliances and dense material before loading. Public facility handling rules do not confirm that a mixed private rental load will be accepted or sorted.
Protect access used by more than the cleanup crew
At a shared driveway or lakeside access point, identify neighboring parking, trailer movement and any public path. Obtain the placement decision from the responsible owner or manager. Ask about loading-door clearance and the required working area for pickup. If soil, concrete or roofing is involved, follow the provider's specific loading limit rather than filling to the top based on volume.
Compare weight and material handling
Request rental days, accepted debris, included weight, delivery and retrieval terms. Explain any heavy demolition component and separate recycling plan. Ask how additional loads or a changed pickup date would affect the proposal before work begins.
