Confirm the hauler arrangement before collection
Before scheduling collection within Sturgis, ask the proposed hauler to confirm the city license or contract authority applicable to the actual service. If that is unclear, contact the City about the current process. This check is separate from a landowner's placement permission. Do not carry the same conclusion to an outlying county property without identifying its jurisdiction.
Assign the cleanup work that a container does not perform
A roll-off provides a place for an agreed load; it does not by itself supply litter crews or supervise vendor disposal. Give vendors or contractors clear instructions about permitted material. Keep reusable displays and equipment out of the disposal area. Sturgis's municipal collection and rubble-site programs are separate resources, not proof that every temporary event load is included.
Keep pickup possible during departure
The container should remain reachable when trailers, trucks and dismantled structures occupy the property. Review the collection window with the organizer and hauler, and reserve the truck's working area. If dense construction material is involved, follow its specific weight and loading instructions. Do not move the container or change its location without discussing the revised retrieval plan.
Compare teardown, loading and collection scope
Ask for accepted materials, included weight, rental days, pickup and any exchange. Disclose late departures or restricted collection windows. Clarify extra days, unapproved items and blocked-access terms so event cleanup responsibilities are understood before setup begins.
